Every year Christmas comes at the same time.
And every year no one’s ever prepared (let alone even worried about saving money for Christmas). It’s shocking how fast Summer comes and then BAM, welcome to the New Year!
Between all the holly jolly decorating, insistent Christmas music blasting, honey and almond hot chocolate sipping and wondering if you really have to get your co-worker a gift … you have to find a way to pay for it all. Like, all of it. Have you bought a Christmas tree lately? You’d think those things were made of gold pines.
And the presents. The one thing that makes the most wonderful time of the year really the worst time of the year .. The time where you totally regret your trip to Target more than you regret how much you spent … ouch.
Instead of feeling guilty for doing all the spending and to help you get in the spirit I’m doing a Christmas Savings Challenge.
Starting on September 18th I’m challenging you and all your favorite neighbors (so everyone cause we should love all our neighbors, right??) to save just $25 dollars for 14 weeks until December 18th, one week before Christmas.
You’ll save: $350
If you’re reaaaaally ambitious you could go for saving $50 a week and end up saving $700 in time for Christmas (like, WHAT?!)
Want a FREE Christmas Savings Tracker? I know you do!! You can snag the free (yes, totally free) tracker below ..
How to save money for Christmas – $25 dollars each week
I’m going to make it real easy for you and do all the heavy lifting (well .. your bank is) you’re going to automate that $25 dollars straight from your checking into a separate savings account.
You can either use online banking to transfer $25 dollars automatically to a savings account, or if you have a bank that doesn’t know what the twenty-first century is you can call them up and ask them to do it for you.
They key here is to AUTOMATE the $25 dollars. I want you to put it on a schedule so you don’t have to manually move the money over. Because let’s be honest … if I have to manually move over cash to another account .. it’s not gonna happen.
Don’t have an extra $25 to use each week?
What happens if you don’t have an extra $25 dollars to save each week. For starters, if you’re anything like me, you’ll give up tacos for a day.
You can also sell things on Facebook Marketplace (my new favorite place to sell all the crap I’ve neglect for 5 ½ years) or Ebay.
There’s so many ways to make extra money … online, picking up an extra shift or selling your stuff. Just think of how awesome you’ll feel to have a funded Christmas.
