No doubt you’ve heard this before, start a blog they said. You’ll make a bunch of money they said!
I fell for this get-rich-quick blogging scheme. The reality is I did not get rich quick.
It’s a lot of hard work, but it is soooooo worth it.
Working from home and sharing my passion while helping others and finally making extra money on the side is the best thing I could have done.
While it did take some time to get where I’m at now, it was worth it in the long run.

HOW TO WORK FROM HOME WITH KIDS
When you first make the transition to working from home with kids it can get a little tricky.
After the excitement of being home with your kids more fades, you realize that you actually have to get work DONE.
Here’s some of the best tips I’ve found to help when you’re working at home with kids.
1 – Create a schedule
Create a daily and weekly schedule.
Your daily schedule will show what hours you’ll be working and what hours you’ll spend on house chores or with the kids.
My most productive time is in the mornings. Once I hit 3pm my work starts to tank. Because of this I focus on my work in the mornings while taking breaks throughout.
It’s also important to create a weekly schedule of things that NEED to get done that specific week. Continually check it and check things off throughout the week.
To check out a sample schedule, I really liked this one from This Work From Home Life.
2 – Have a set ‘Work Area’
As much as I love laying out on the couch and working on my computer, I know I’m not as productive. Because of this I have a set ‘Office Work Area’ that is specifically for working.
I’ve been caught too many times accidentally falling asleep while doing my work on the couch or in bed!
3 – Utilize the time that your spouse is at home
Some people find the most success with work when their spouse gets home. This way they can help with the kids while you finish up work.
And I know weekends aren’t ideal to be working, but if you have a spouse who is off during the weekends and you typically spend them lounging around, take that time to get your work done.
TIPS FOR WORKING AT HOME AS A BEGINNER
1 – Use skills that you already have
If you’ve been working in a specific field, have a degree or are just really passionate in a certain area use that to your advantage!
I’ve been in the dental field for years and because of this have been eligible for multiple work from home opportunities just doing dental billing.
2 – It may take some time to find a work from home job that fits well with your family
Finding a good gig and making it fit with your family can take some time. This is new territory for all of you.
It’s okay to try new things and if you only do a job for a few months, that’s okay!
You need to do what’s best for your family and trying things out until you find the best fit is not a bad thing to do. The point is that you are trying!
3 – Be comfortable with trying new things
Along with pushing through, be open to trying new things. There are a ton of positions that I never thought I’d be good at, but after exploring the options a little more I found stuff that I love doing!
4 – Don’t be afraid to do something you’re passionate about
This right here is important.
For years I’ve been passionate about talking money. For years I’ve been working on making this whole blogging thing work. There have been countless times where I’ve wanted to give in and give up, but I’m so glad I never did!
If there is something you are truly passionate about, try it out! (but be smart about it) Start a side hustle and watch it grow while currently working.
Once you get to the point of replacing your income and making the transition to working from home you’ll feel so accomplished and ready to take your business to the next step.
5 – Think outside the box
Sometimes when working from home you have to think outside the box. A great option of this is using your home as an Airbnb or even a room inside your home. This can be a great way to make extra money without a ton of work!
